Well… that all depends. There are many variables in each individual’s daily routine where more or less massage is recommended. Regular massage for body and mind restoration is 1-2x a month. Personally, I aim receive a massage one a month. If my finances are tighter than usual, for example last year I planned my wedding, married my partner, established my private practice while working part-time at The spa at Mandarin Oriental in Miami, settled into our new city- Miami, and the list goes on and on. I was faced with plenty of daily demands and emotional stressors however financially I was only able to receive massage every few months. In this case, I keep a golden rule of receiving massage as the Seasons change- 4 times a year. This way I can encourage my body to flow with the Earth’s natural rhythms on my side of the hemisphere, of course.

In my profession, I am constantly on my feet, my head and neck is often leaning forward to observe the person on my table, and my arms and hands face overuse. We are all prone to our bodies experiencing a particular pattern of tension due to our profession, exercise regime, frequency of travel, our active/sedentary lifestyle. Yes, even laying on the couch for too long will create tension and discomfort as essentially our beautiful and wondrous bodies are designed for significant movement.
